Working to accelerate lunar development through standardized power solutions

Open Lunar Impact

This project contributes to Open Standards development, information sharing, and collaboration.

About the Project

The Power Standards project tackles a critical challenge in the new era of Lunar exploration and development: establishing shared and standardized Lunar power infrastructure. We are dedicated to facilitating the development and adoption of Lunar power standards, recognizing their crucial role in shaping the future of lunar operations.

About the Need

Lunar power standards are crucial for the future of lunar operations.

  • Cost Reduction: Standardization allows organizations to reduce reliance on individual, bespoke power systems, slashing costs and increasing payload capacity.

  • Accelerated Innovation: Distributed efforts across multiple contributors lead to faster growth of capabilities and architectures.

  • Economic Growth: Standards unlock efficiencies and scales vital for a Lunar economy to take off.

  • Risk Mitigation: Early standardization helps power users commit to proven solutions with diverse supply chains.

The Open Dashboard for Lunar Power Candidate Standards

To address these challenges, we propose creating an Open Dashboard that will:

  • Track Progress: Monitor advancements in proposed Lunar power standards.

  • Facilitate Collaboration: Allow standard implementers to coalesce around the most needed, easily proven, and readily available industry solutions.

  • Streamline Adoption: Reduce the risk of multiple standards proliferating in silos.
